Investigation of antibacterial properties of silver (Ag) nanoparticles obtained by green synthesis using cherry stalk extract

Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNP) was carried out using the green synthesis method with dried cherry stalk extract. The optimization of the extract and added metal concentration and synthesis time parameters, which play an important role in the synthesis of nanoparticles, were performed in the studies. In this context, the optimum extract concentration, Ag solution concentration and the synthesis time were found to be %1,0, 10-2 M and 48 h, respectively. In addition, the characterization studies of AgNPs obtained under these optimum conditions were carried out using UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Transmissive Electron Microscope (TEM), X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD), and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer (FTIR) methods. Finally, the antibacterial activities of synthesized AgNPs were investigated against gram-positive bacteria, such as Enterococcus faecalis ATTC29212, Listeria monocytogenes ASKK472, Bacillus cereus ATTC 11778, Staphylococcus aureus ATTC 43300 and gram-negative bacteria, such as Salmonella Typhimurium ATTC 14028, Enterobacter aerogenes ATTC 13048, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Escherichia coli 0157:H7, Salmonella Enterocolitica, Escherichia coli 0157:H7 ATTC 43895, Escherichia coli ATTC 35150.
