Abstract (EN)

In our age, human resources are seen as having a key role in gaining competitive advantage. In order for businesses to achieve their goals, they need to focus on their employees. One of the ways that can be used at this point is the harmony of the employees with their environment, and this is called the person-environment fit theory in the literature. In this context, the main purpose of the research is to reveal whether work engagement has a mediating role in the effect of person-job, person-organization and person-supervisor fit, which are the types of person-environment fit, on job performance, with an applied research on blue-collar workers. By examining the potential mediating effect of work engagement, it is aimed to learn more about the process between compliance types and performance and to elucidate this interaction. The sub-purpose of the research is to investigate the effects of person-job, person-organization and person-supervisor fit on job performance and work engagement. In this direction, the thesis study is important in terms of helping to understand why and how job performance changes, which is critical in terms of customer satisfaction, organizational success, improvement and development of organizational performance. For this purpose, data were collected from blue-collar employees in TR 83 region through questionnaires and analyzes and evaluations were made in the context of these data. SPSS and LISREL programs were used in the analysis of the data. The Process macro plugin developed by Hayes (2022) was used to test the mediation hypothesis. According to the analyzes made person-job, person-organization, and person-süpervisor fit positively affects work engagement and job performance. It has been seen that work engagement plays a mediating role in the effect of person-job, person-organization, person-supervisor fit on job performance. The results reveal that person-job, person-organization, and person-supervisor fit will provide valuable gains to organizations and employees in terms of ensuring that the most important resource of organizations, human resources, is connected to their work and improving their job performance.
