Abstract (EN)
The focus of this study is to examine the dark side of personality in organizational context. In this direction, the relationship of dark side of personality with burnout and the moderating role of general self-efficacy on the relationship has been examined. Within this scope; (a) the relationship between perceived dark personality traits of managaers with subordinates' burnout, (b) the relationship between employees' their own dark personality traits with burnout, (c) the moderating effect of general self-efficacy on the relationship of dark personality traits of managers and employees with burnout, were all examined. In the study, firstly two shortened Dark Triad scale were adapted into Turkish and the Dirty Dozen scale which was determined as having a better psychometric properties was used to measure the dark side of personality in thesis. A total of 926 employees from various sectors operating in Turkey participated in study. Employees rated their own; dark personality traits, burnout, general self-efficacy and the dark personality traits of their managers. According to research findings, positive relationship obtained between perceived dark personality traits of managers and employees' own dark personality traits and burnout. General self-efficacy had only a partial moderating effect on the relationship between employees' own dark personality traits and burnout. It has been found that the levels of Machiavellianism and psychopathy of both employees and managers affected burnout stronger, while narcissism level of employees and managers affected burnout weaker. Findings are discussed in detail in the discussion section.
