Özet (EN)

When we say human rights, we mean the rights and freedoms that all people can benefit from, regardless of race, nation, religion, language and gender. These rights are universal, inalienable and unchangeable. The right to life, freedom of religion and conscience, the right to property, the right to vote and be elected, the right to privacy, the right to education, the right to food and shelter are some of the basic human rights and freedoms we have. It is accepted that these rights are given to people from birth. However, whether people have the right to give up these fundamental rights is a fundamental matter of debate. In this context, the question arises: "Can a person freely give up her most fundamental right, the right to life?" In other words, it is possible to ask, "Does a person have the freedom not to use her right to life or to give up her right to life?" At the same time, it is necessary to clarify why giving up the right to life is not welcomed in many societies and is seen as contrary to basic human values. In the historical process, social structures have emerged in which giving up the right to life is condemned. In the planned thesis study, the questions in question will be examined from a human rights perspective and some determinations will be made regarding suicide and euthanasia. In this context, it will be analyzed whether the right to end one's life is included in basic human rights.
