Content analysis for religious and moral elements in wattpad stories printed as a book

Wattpad, which is the main element of our research, is a book reading application developed in 2006. In Wattpad application, which is mostly preferred by children and young people in our country and in the world, users publish their original stories section by section. The stories that readers are interested in Wattpad have been published as books in our country since 2015. Stories viewed millions of times on Wattpad make dozens of prints when printed as books. Some of those books are turned into movies or series. The aim of the research is to examine the contents of Wattpad books, which reach high numbers of prints, in terms of religious and moral aspects. The research is carried out by using the content analysis method. A coding guideline consisting of main and sub-categories for religious and moral elements has been developed for the research. When needed during the examination, some additions and deletions have been done in the guideline. In the research, 5 of the 15 Wattpad books with the highest number of prints were examined by content analysis method in terms of religious and moral factors. Accordingly, it has been found that Wattpad books are mostly texts with negative moral elements. Religious elements of faith, religious elements of worship and positive moral elements are observed to be extremely rare in Wattpad books.
