Abstract (EN)
In this study, the crystal structure, functional groups, morphological structure, elemental compositions, antimicrobial activity and structural changes in the simulated body fluid (SBF) of Zinc (Zn)-based hydroxyapatite (HAp) samples, synthesized by sol-gel method, doped with chitosan at different amounts were investigated. The crystal structure of the synthesized samples was determined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique; the functional groups of the samples were determined by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The morphologies and elemental compositions of the HAp samples were carried out by scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy. It was observed that the synthesized samples had antimicrobial activity. Chitosan addition and the effect of SBF were found to change the crystallization percentages of the samples. No significant changes were observed as morphologically.
