Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, clarinets structural and technical development in history, how it was performed and in which cultures it was exposed to, in which forms and which years it was used by Turkish composers are researched. The thesis is consisted of two main parts. In the first part, clarinets history, types, differences of the usage and performance on the stage, revolutions which are made for clarinet and lifes of the composers who contributed to the developement of the instrument are researched. At the same time, its past on the Turkish history and the eras which it was performed in conservatories and palace orchestras are addressed. In the second part, Turkish composers who composed pieces for clarinet are researched and presented in charts. Prof. İstemihan Taviloğlus'-who composed the first Clarinet Concerto in Turkey- biography and pieces are researched. At the same time, Turkish composer Ahmed Adnan Sayguns' piece named "Horon" is analysed in musical way and structural form. In the final part, difference between pieces "Horon" by Saygun and "Concerto for Clarinet" by Taviloğlu are eveluated in structural and technical ways.
