Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to investigate the answer of the question; "Is it possible to realize the teaching and practice of classical guitar with a repertoire generated from studies and works written with Turkish music makams which was adapted to equal temperament system?" The model of the research was shaped as sequential explanatory strategy within mixed method and quantitative dominant pattern. Following the literature review done for collecting data for the scientific basis and subject of the research, a study and a work was composed for each Hüseynî, Kürdî, Hicâz, Râst and Nihâvend makam under the control of Turkish music, composing and classical guitar experts for the practice process performed with students. The study group is composed of seven individual instrument guitar students from Music Education Program of Fine Arts Department in Faculty of Education in Harran University. The practice process has been organized for two-week periods and two lectures per week; at the end of the two-week period, the other makam period has been started. Theoretical courses have been provided in the first week of each makam. These courses are shaped with the views of the domain experts of Turkish music. Before these courses, a written examination was made in order to examine the knowledge level of the students on related makam. At the end of the lecture, the exam was repeated and the change of knowledge level for each question and general point was calculated separately and their average determined. In order to evaluate the study and the work within the practice period, interviews with classical guitar domain experts have been made and "Performance Evaluation Form" was created. Within the practice period, the videos belonging to pre test and post tests of five studies and five works performed by students have been evaluated by six classical guitar domain experts who work in different universities. Any performance evaluation has been made by the practitioners. The practice lasted a total of eleven weeks. At the end of practice period, in order to take the views of students about the study, the opinions of experts have been taken, a semi-structured form was prepared and an interview composed of six questions was made. Interview results have been evaluated within the created themes via content analysis. When analyzed the application results; a large increase in pre tests and post tests theoretical examinations was observed. In the evaluations of performances; it has revealed that the accommodative levels between scores have shown a high compliance according to Kendall's W test, the effect sizes of studies and works are high and there are significant differences in pre test and post test points according to Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. At the end of the practice, the views of students are all positive and they interpret the study in this direction.
