Abstract (EN)

The present dissertation study focuses on the classical music performers and aims to examine their music perception and approach to other musical genres. During the research, it was examined whether these performers have any prejudices or stereotypes for different genres. The first part of the study focuses on the concepts, music in human life, the perception of music, music taste, prejudice, stereotyping, and stereotyping and elitism in music. The second part of the study features the face-to-face interviews conducted with 30 female and 30 male artists involved in various orchestras and conservatories in Turkey and the results obtained from the interviews. The results of the study were analyzed by interpreting the responses of classical music performers in terms of both prejudice and stereotypes to other genres.
