Abstract (EN)

In this study, the concept of space in the 17th century, which is accepted as the century of change/transformation, unlike classical periodization, has been examined through Nef'î (d. 1044/1635), Seyhulislâm Yahyâ (d. 1053/1644), Nâ'ilî (d. 1077/1666), Nesâtî (d. 1085/1674) and Nâbî (d. 1124/1712)'s diwan. After the introductory part, in which the boundaries, scope, sources and method of the research are revealed, the first part is exclusively devoted to this concept, since there are a limited number of studies on space. In this section, starting from the origin of the concept, especially philosophically, the journey it went through until the 18th century was tried to be outlined through the breaking points. Since the concept of space has a multi-layered structure, in this study how it will be understood in the context of the 17th century has been revealed. Then, the places in the diwans of the examined poets were classified. In this classification, a new suggestion has been made by making use of the previous studies, which is thought to guide the space studies to be done later. In the second part of the study, the diwans of the poets taken in line with the defined space definition were separated in terms of space. Afterwards, the spaces at hand were examined one by one within the scope of the suggested classification. A head, related to each space was created and the equivalent heads of that head were also included under the same heading. In the title of each space, it is given with example couplets and their intralingual translations of how the poets deal with that place jointly and separately. Not only the sample couplets are satisfied, but also all other couplets belonging to that usage have been tried to be given as footnotes. As a result of the conclusions reached in the second part, in the third part, the general sense of space of the 17th century Ottoman poets and their way of dealing with it were tried to be determined. The findings obtained as a result of all these, and the claims put forward are presented in the conclusion section.
