Thesis)Gürol CANBEKGAZI UNIVERSITYINSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGYSeptember 2005ABSTRACTIn this thesis, malware and spyware threatening information and computersecurity and anti-spyware developed for preventing this kind of malicioussoftware have been examined. In this context, the main subject of the study,keyloggers or activity monitoring systems and anti-keyloggers were studied;available commercial off-the-shelf software were compared and theircapabilities and possible methods were explained. Making use of those findings,an advanced activity monitoring system based on key logging calledTürkSpyware has been developed. The system that is considered the firstTurkish keylogger can be used for workplace monitoring, ensuring the childsafety on the Internet, education purpose, automatic personal logging of all thecomputer and Internet activities, and monitoring the computer activitiessecretly. In this study, also an anti-keylogger system, called TürkAntiSpywarewas developed for blocking the threats of spyware and keyloggers. The securitylevel of Turkish online Internet banking and popular web based e-mailsuppliers were tested with the developed systems.
