Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT The Effect of Nursing Education According to Life Model on Activities of Daily Living and Quality of Life in COPD Patients Aim: This study was conducted to determine the effect of nursing education according to life model on activities of daily living and quality of life in COPD patients Materials And Methods: The study was a semi-experimental study with pre-test and post-test, experimental and control groups. The data of the study were collected between July 2017 and June 2018 at the Turgut Ozal Medical Center in Malatya and the Malatya Training and Research Hospital. The sample of the study consisted of 148 COPD patients (74 experiments, 74 controls). The experiment group and the control group were selected from the Turgut Özal Medical Center and the Malatya Training and Research Hospital to prevent the patients and the control group from being affected by each other. In the study) Katz Activities of Daily Living Scale and , SF-36 Quality of Life Scale were used as the first patient-presentation form and pre-test. After the pre-test, 6-week training was conducted by the researcher according to the life model for the experimental group. No attempt was made to the control group during this period. SF-36 and ADL were administered as a final test to the experimental and control group after 6 weeks of training. In the evaluation of the data, percentage distribution, arithmetic mean, independent t test, paired t test, chi square test were applied. Results: The difference between control and experimental group patients' final test daily activities activity total score mean was statistically significant (p˂.05). When the control and test group patients were compared with the post-test quality of life subscale and scale point averages was statistically significant (p˂.05). Conclusions : It was determined that the nursing care education given by the life model was effective in increasing the daily life activities and quality of life of COPD patients.
