Development of a software for manufacturing resource planning in SME?s

SMEs create primary dynamics of Turkish Ecomomy with important functions which include efficiency of market mechanism and bring dynamism and competitive extent to economy, providing sustainable development, creating deployment. A study conducted by State Institute of Statistics pointed out that 99,88% of all enterprises in Turkey are SMEs. SME?s are our country?s outstanding power providing deployment and added values to country?s economy. So, SMEs must keep up with quickly to changing supply?demand conditions. Because of difficulty due developmet efforts information flow mangement, hard competition situations, peak in technology, business world started to look for different ways for solution. Automation processes in production facilities spread through to desktop applications automation, and quality and efficiency studies and new strategies in administartion are such examples for the solution search procedures. Systems of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) exist in this solution searchs. Try to combine all departments and functions of a firm under a system is the most important feature of ERP. Combining all departments with different necessity and expectations to get access to same database under the same computer system is very difficult procedure but it is useful too. This integration approach will increase working speed in collaboration providing extraordinary economy. In addition to that, quality of information is increased thanks to integration of these departments. When the speed of information increases, decisions will be more realistic and more accurate. Mos ERP software are developed for large scale companies, so these software are not appropriate for SMEs. Also, most of the these software are sold with high prices. Director, who can?t risk such high investment, tends to keep the present format. As a result of these a system has been developed for SMEs. Thanks to this system, SMEs do not have to spend so much money but only little for software which is developed by using open source code.
