This study was focused on the foraminiferal biostratigraphy and microfacies analysis of Kocaçay Formation (Middle Eocene in age) which is cropping out at 1,5 km to the east of Deliler Village in Şeffatli township, southern Yozgat, Central Turkey. The only conspicuous outcrop is located in the eastern part within a vacated limestone quarry, and the attempts to find other open and suitable sections of the limestone around the town failed although some other further outcrops can be seen far from the town. This outcrop having a vertical section since it is located in a quarry and having a contact with the underlying Upper Cretaceous Central Anatolian Granitoids, gives a superb exposure for logging and sampling. In the studied area, Kocaçay Formation consists of fossiliferous layered limestone, which show three main faunal microfacies. According to the faunal evidences documented from the thin to medium bedded limestone, Alveolina and Nummulite zones were proposed. Based on the carbonate microfacies and foraminiferal assemblages, the paleoenvironment reconstruction arguments an internal shelf of carbonate in a shallow marine (reef-back reef) during Middle Eocene.
