Abstract (EN)

VIIISUMMARYStudies on Some Andrological Parameters in RamsIn this study, it was aimed to investigate the morphometric measurements of testesand other semen characteristics from the andrological parameters and relationshipsamong these parameters. Two Akkaraman rams aged 4-5 years were used asmaterialin breeding season. The morphometric measurements of testes were taken first began the aim andsecond finish the aim and semen were collected twice a week and a total of tenejaculates in breeding season. From the morphometric measurements of testes, lengthand thick of testes and circumference, thick and volume of scrotum were measured. The semen were also collected by using an artificial vagina and reaction time in eachram were recorded. As to the spermatological features, the volume, viscosity and pHof semen, mass activity, motility, density and abnormal rate of sperm weredetermined in each ram.The means of right and left testes length, right and left testes thick, doubletestes circumference and volume and scrotal thickness from morphometricmeasurements of testes in rams were found 9.0 ± 0.47 cm, 7.03 ± 1.18 cm, 6.4 ± 0.13cm, 5.03 ± 0.89 cm, 31.13 ± 0.32 cm, 487.0 ± 34.00 ml and 0.65 ± 0.07 cmrespectively. The means of reaction time, volume, viscosity and pH of semen, massactivity, motility, concentration and abnormal rate of sperm from the otherandrological parameters of rams were found 10.0 ± 0.29 s, 1.47 ± 0.12 ml, 3.60 ±0.15, 7.23 ± 0.07, 3.0 ± 0.13, 77.0 ± 1.93 %, 1024.0 ± 66.24 x106/ml, 14.35 ± 1.35 %respectively. The relationships between semen volume with scrotal thickness, double testescircumference with semen viscosity and pH of semen however left testes lenght wasnegative corralated with the mass activity and motility of spermatozoa were lowdegree significant (P<0.10) . Left testes thick was negative significant (P<0.01)correlated with the mass activity and motility of spermatozoa. Left testes length waspositive correlated with sperm concentration, abnormal sperm rate were negativeIXcorrelated with left testes thickness and positive correlated with scrotal thicknesssignificant (P<0.05).As a result, considering the variations and correlations between themorphometric testes measurements and spermatological features can be use of thesetraits as selection criteria but the more comprehensive investigations with the biggermaterial may be useful was concluded.Key words : Andrology, Breeding season, Ram, Semen, Testes measure
