Evaluation of the heritagearea Suleymaniye Region in the contextof transformation of collective memory

The Sulaymaniyah Region, a World Heritage Site, is of great importance and has a rich history. This area needs to be protected and utilized in the best way possible. The aim of this thesis is to conduct field research on collective memory, to reveal the change and transformation in the memory of the area over periods, to examine its positive and negative reflections in architecture, and to provide ideas and research to turn the negatives into positives. Collective memory is the basic building block of this thesis. Research and analysis have been carried out in the context of this concept. After the transition from memory to collective memory, examining space experience and cultural heritage experiences in the context of collective memory forms the flow of the thesis. After these examinations, a field study was carried out on the selected area, based on concrete and intangible criteria that correspond to spatial experience and cultural heritage in architecture. The results were evaluated in the context of collective memory. I hope that this two-stage research for the Sulaymaniyah Region will be useful.
