Determination of laparoscopic cholecystectomy in patients with the information reqired at discharge

In this research, the effect of given education -in relation with the learning needs of the patients- on patients' life has been investigated by determining learning needs of the patients with laparoscopic cholecystectomy. The study took place between July and December 2017 in a state owned hospital's general surgery clinic with 140 patients who had surgical operations. The learning needs of first 40 patients determined and an education programme established after receiving ethics and institution permits. In the next step, personal information form and life quality scale are implemented to 50 patients that have been sorted into a control group. Next 50 patients treated with the education programme which have been established regarding to the determined learning needs and before their surgery the personal information form, after the surgery life quality scale is implemented. It is determined the experiment group's general state of health sub-dimension point average is higher than the control group's average, and the difference between the groups is significant (p<.05). The research also showed that the sub-dimensions of life quality, physical health, psychology, social relations and environment average scores are higher in experiment group. However, the difference between the groups was statistically insignificant(p>.05). It also showed that total life quality average score of experiment group is higher than control group's average score and the difference between the groups is also significant (p<.01). It has been discovered that literate respondents who are graduated from elementary schools in the experiment group possess higher average point in the physical health sub-dimension of life quality when it is compared to the control group's score and the difference between the groups is significant (p<.05). The experiment group's respondents who are graduated from high-schools and universities possess higher average score in the psychological health and environment sub-dimension of life quality and total life quality average score when it is compared to the other groups, and the difference between groups are significant (p<.01).
