The expression COX?2, BCL?2, BAX in the colon adenocarcinomas and premalign lesions and relationship with lenf node metastasis.

Colorectal carcinomas constitute the second cause of death due to cancer. Prognosis is well during the early stages, poor in later. Many factors are effective in the prognosis of colorectal carcinomas. One of the most important is lymphatic nodule metastasis.Colorectal carcinoma incidence being low in patients using NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) has grown the interest towards these medications. Cox-2 plays a role in the prostaglandine synthesis from arachidonic acid. While in colorectal carcinomas, the Cox-2 release increases, the Cox-2 inhibitors decrease the colorectal carcinomas. The aim of our study is to investigate the relation between the Cox-2, antiapoptotic Bcl-2 and preapoptotic bax values in colorectal adenocarcinomas to the lymphatic nodule metastasis.In our research, 30 colorectal adenocarcinoma (10 well differentiated, 10 medium degree differentiated and 10 poorly differentiated), 10 tubular type adenomatous polyp and 10 normal type colon mucosa samples were randomly selected. To the samples, Cox-2, Bcl-2 and Bax as immunohystochemicals were applied and the correlation between lymphatic nodule metastasis, differentiation and these markers were evaluated.At the end of the assessment, while the relation between Cox-2 score in colorectal adenocarcinomas and lymphatic nodule metastasis was statistically significant, no relation between that and differentiation was detected. There was also a significance in the relation between Bcl-2 and Bax staining score and differentiation while there was none between that and lymphatic nodule metastasis. Also, the relation within Cox-2, Bcl-2 and Bax themselves was insignificant.As a result, Cox-2 in colorectal cancers is growing with lymphatic metastasis being an important prognostic factor. Bcl-2 and Bax, on the other hand, bare a significant relation with differentiation.
