Özet (EN)

Background and aimThe objective is to contribute to developmental pathogenesis of colon polyp and cancer by presenting the relation between colon polyp formation, the precursor of colon cancer in human and Glukagon Like Peptid-2 (GLP-2) & GLP-2 R.Material and MethodsThe patients, who were pathologically diagnosed with colon polyp and colon cancer, among the group of patients, whose biopsy was collected upon detection of colon polyp during lower gastrointestinal system endoscopy, and the patients, whose biopsy was collected during endoscopy upon detection of findings indicating colon cancer, were included in the study. There were 20 patients (12 M, 8 F, average age: 64 ± 9.4) in colon polyp group and 30 patients (17M, 13F, average age: 62 ± 10.7) in colon cancer group. In order to create comparison data of the study, biopsies were collected from normal colon mucosa tissues of the same patients. Incisions prepared on poly-L-lysine microscope slides were coloured by GLP-2 Receptor Antibody (1:100-1:200, 1 mg/ml) immunohistochemical stain.ResultsGLP-2R positivity of cancer patients was 20% (6/30) in focal cytoplasmic coloration while it was 0% in adenomas and 100% in enteroendocrine cells in normal mucosa. The comparison of polyp and normal tissue (p=0.000) and cancer and normal tissue (p=0.000) showed statistically significant difference. The comparison of polyp and cancer tissues also presented statistically significant difference (p=0.023).ConclusionIn conclusion, GLP-2R expression in colon polyps was not detected in human in contrary to the study on mice. This makes us think GLP-2R expression is not efficient in adenoma-cancer pathogenesis. However, GLP-2R expression might have efficacy on advanced level of colon cancer and probably in metastasis pathogenesis. More studies are needed on this subject with more facts and different methods.Key words: GLP-2R, Colon adenoma and cancer
