Abstract (EN)

In this study, a metastatic colorectal cancer cell HCT 116 was treated with the extracts of sage (Salvia officinalis), stinging nettle (Urtica dioica), cress (Lepidium sativum) and cumin (Nigella sativa) plant species which is popularly considered in the treatment of colorectal cancer patients for 3,24,48 h. After treatments, the expression levels of miR-145 which is known as a suppressor and miR-21, miR-31, miR-135a which are known as oncogenic were determined. Salvia officinalis, Nigella sativa, Urtica dioica extract were effective by reducing the amount of miR-21, miR-31 and miR-135a. On the contrary, it was determined that Lepidium sativum does not have any effects on these 3 miRs. In addition, it was determined that Salvia officinalis, Nigella sativa, Urtica dioica extracts do not have any effect on miR-145.
