Abstract (EN)

INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE: In our study, the difference in expression levels of some important immunohistochemical stainings with proven oncopathological value in colonoscopic specimens of patients with solitary and synchronous colorectal adenomatous polyps is to evaluate the risk of cancer development in patients with synchronous polyps. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Solitary tubular adenoma and synchronous tubular adenoma (patient with rectal cancer and tubular adenoma) group will be determined retrospectively. Immunohistochemical staining with Matrixmetalloproteinase 1-2, HIF-1 alpha, VEGF and MMP-9, NGAL will be performed by evaluating the preparations of the polyps of these patients, whose histopathological examinations were performed previously in Sakarya University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pathology. For both groups of patients, the expression levels for the parameters specified in the materials obtained as a result of the staining will be determined and recorded separately, and a statistical comparison of the expression levels between the two groups will be made. RESULTS: When the specimens of the two groups were compared in terms of Matrixmetalloproteinase 1-2, HIF-1 alpha, VEGF and MMP-9, immunohistochemical staining with NGAL, no statistically significant difference was found in staining with VEGF, MMP-1-2-9, HIF-1 alpha, A statistically significant difference was found in staining with NGAL. CONCLUSION: The fact that NGAL, MMP1-2-9 and HIF-1 alpha levels, which are well-known to be associated with the development of malignancy, are found to be higher in synchronous polyps, that is, in polyps originating from the colorectal mucosa with a previous malignancy, suggests that these two polyp groups may not actually be the same, especially in terms of malignancy development potential.
