Özet (EN)

In the scope of this thesis, mechanical behavior of the materials having complex geometry are investigated by image processing supported finite elements method Reverse engineering applications become important with the development in calculation capacity and sensitivity of measurement techniques. Reverse engineering applications are used in many areas such as medical, civil and material engineering. Reverse engineering has become a method which is used in three dimensional computer aided design, computer aided production and three dimensional virtual models for computer aided engineering. Investigations are performed on concrete and coral specimen by using reverse engineering methods. Image data of concrete specimen which is formed of aggregate having complex geometry, water, cement and sand is obtained by computed tomography. With the obtained data, voxel based finite elements method is formed by reverse engineering methods. 3 points bending test is applied to the three dimensional solid model in ABAQUS® program and compared with the experimental results. Carrying properties are investigated after analyses. Effect of change in treshold value on coral specimen having porous material structure and complex geometry on geometrical properties, static analyses and directional elasticity module is investigated. Differences and relationships between elasticity module which is used in within the scope of macro acceptance and real elasticity module values are presented by using voxel based finite elements method. Realistic geometry definitions are made by micro computed tomography devices. The relationship between elasticity modules of homogenous and porous materials are obtained in the analyses in the light of selected parameters.Obtained results reveal that investigated parameters have remarkable effects on carrying properties of concrete and coral specimen which have complex geometries. The results also show the importance of image data choice which must be taken into consideration on practical applications.
