Abstract (EN)

As the population of the population increases over the years and rapidly developing industrialization, the human need for energy is increasing day by day. Although studies on renewable energy sources have intensified, it is foreseen that there is still half a century of abandonment of primary energy sources.Although electric vehicles have zero emission emissions while on-driving, electricity ishandled from fossil resources on power plants. When this situation is taken into consideration, the systems where the electricity production can be achieved with the emulation of the least emissions are being researched for the use in the automotive industry. The biggest examples of the use of primary energy sources, especially in the field of energy production, are shown as thermal power plants. It is of great importance both in terms of environment and cost that both the emissions to the nature of thermal power plants and the high costs are carefully monitored and the necessary feasibility reports are prepared. İskenderun has been accepted as the reference site for two separate thermal power plants planned to be established and compared. These two power plants planned to be established are coal-fired thermal power plants and natural gas-fired thermal power plants. Both thermal power plants were examined financially and environmentally. The two thermal power plants examined in this thesis study increased the greenhouse gas effect of coal-fired power plants by 140%, while the natural gas fueled thermal power plant kept the greenhouse gas emissions of the region at an optimal level. In terms of reimbursement periods, the coal-fired power plant pays for itself in 8 years, while the natural gas-fired power plant pays for itself in 6.1 years.
