Abstract (EN)
Aim: Craniofacial morphology of individuals with congenitally missing upper lateral incisors has been claimed different from those in normal individuals. Previous studies were studied the craniofacial morphology of the individuals with 2-D cephalometric films. The aim of this study was to investigate adult individuals with congenitally missing upper lateral incisors through 3-D Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) Material and Method: This study was carried out on 25 individuals with congenitally missing one or two maxillary upper incisors and 21 individuals with Class I occlusion. Lateral cephalograms were obtained from CBCT images DICOM format. Skeletal and dental measurements were done on tomography images with use of DOLPHIN imaging software program. Results: SNA, IMPA angles and L1-MP and overjet distances were lower but interinsizal angle higher in the individuals with congenital missing laterals significantly compared to those in normal individuals. There were no significant differences among congenitally missing lateral group and control group regarding vertical and soft tissue measurements. Conclusion: Our findings suggested that the individuals with congenitally missing upper lateral incisors had retrognathic maxilla and retruded mandibular incisors.
