ABSTRACT AN INVESTIGATION INTO STRESS MANAGEMENT IN CONSERVATORY MUSIC STUDENTS AND PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS Zehra ÖZYAZGAN student of Department of Music Programme in Strings Graduate School of Anadolu University, July 2025 Advisor: Prof. Burcu Evren YAZICI This study explores the stress factors experienced by music students and professional musicians, as well as the strategies they employ to manage these challenges. Common stressors include performance anxiety, stage fright, demanding practice routines, physical exhaustion, career uncertainty, and financial instability. The primary objective of the research is to provide a multidimensional analysis of musicians coping strategies and to identify effective techniques for stress management. The study was carried out using a qualitative research design, supported by a comprehensive review of national and international literature, academic publications, theses, and recent studies. Additionally, visual materials and practical examples were used to reinforce the findings. Various stress reducing techniques such as yoga, pilates, the Alexander Technique, breathing exercises, relaxation methods, meditation, mental imagery, healthy lifestyle habits, positive thinking, social support, and, when necessary, medication are examined in detail. The impact of these methods is evaluated in the context of both pre performance and post performance stages.
