The effects of Constantinople becoming the new capital on Christianity

Since the time it is believed to have been revealed to jesus Christ, Christianity has undergone many changes and has become a religion characterized by divisions stemming from differing perspectives. The main reasons for these changes and divisions are the limited number of people who accepted this faith during Jesus Christ's lifetime and the controversies that arose in the period leading up to the legalization of Christianity after his death. The lack of a spiritual leader has led to the emergence of different views and the openanded interpretation of religious matters. An important development that influenced this process was the establishment of Constantinople, today's Istanbul, as the capital by Emperor Constantine. This event led to a division between the two largest churches of Christianity and paved the way for the First Council of Nicaea, held under Constantine's took on a permanent structure, dividing into two main branches. This study will examine the development and changes Christianity underwent in connection with the city of Constantinople.
