The conrol of the electrohydraulic systems have become the main focus of the researches with the new advancements occured recently in the techonology and controllers. The structural characteristics of the electrohydraulic systems makes them ideal subjects for the application of diffrent types of the sophisticated control algorithms. Today the automation is applied together with the hydraulic systems, electric and electronic control, and sensor because of the need of sensitive control and mass-production. In the industrial applications,fluid power systems are suitable for automation. Especially in electrohydraulic systems, the servo valves are commonly used in the aviation which needshigh speed and precise and fine control, and in the marine and submarine vehicles. The most important role of the servo valves is that they provide with the control of the motion of electrohydraulic systems creating a proportional corelation between the hydraulic fluid flow rate and the electrical input current.In this thesis, simulation of elektrohydraulic rudder system have been carried out using four-way three position proportional valve. In order to compare the performance of hydrulic rudder system in consideration of the vessel?s dynamic model, the control of ship?s piston position non-adaptive methods of Proportional-Integrative-Derivative (PID).In conclusion of the studies that were conducted up to this point, classical control is recommended due to superior performance that it has demonstrated in uncontrolled system.Firstly, litarature available on the hydraulic system modelling and control done previously is reviewed and the structures of basic components forming the system are described.Secondly, non-linear flow equations, which are available in the literature, are used to model proportianal control valve. As a result, fourth order non-linear diffential are derived for the hydraulic systems. SIMULINK module of the MATLAB programme is benefited to perform the simulation of the hydraulic system mathematical model of which is derived.In conclusion, closed loop position conrol is achieved applying the simulation of the electrohydraulic system SIMULIK with the PID (Proportional ? Integral-Derivative) controllers, and the results have been commented on.
