Abstract (EN)

This thesis was prepared as a Master's thesis in the Department of Geological Engineering at Süleyman Demirel University. The study focuses on identifying the distribution and characteristics of uncontrolled fill materials through field investigations and laboratory tests, aiming to highlight potential engineering geological problems that may arise in the future. The research was conducted in a selected case study area. Within this scope, geological observations, borehole drillings, and in-situ tests were carried out in the study area to collect data and determine the spatial distribution and thickness of existing uncontrolled fills. Standard Penetration Tests (SPT) were performed during geotechnical investigations at the planned locations, and anomalies observed in the SPT values between the uncontrolled fill and the natural ground were used to distinguish between these two soil units. Additionally, pressuremeter tests were conducted to determine the differences in limit pressure and modulus of elasticity between the same units. Through this study, the extent and thickness of uncontrolled fills in the study area were determined based on borehole and field test data. Laboratory tests were subsequently performed on the collected soil samples. According to the results, natural ground and artificial fill units were clearly differentiated. Based on this distinction, it was aimed to ensure that the foundations of the planned structures would be placed on the natural ground to prevent potential deformations due to settlement.
