Abstract (EN)

The reclamation and reuse of treated wastewater is an effective way to protect the water resources in arid and semi-arid area regions and to use existing resources efficiently. Wastewater reclamation and reuse facility with a capacity of 3600 m3/day has started up in 2012 at Konya Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) exit which was established in 2010 with capacity of 200.000 m3/day. The system called Purple Network consists of rapid sand filter, UV disinfection and chlorination disinfection processes. In addition to this system used in irrigation of urban green areas in summer times since 2012, a new pilot scale wastewater reclamation plant with a capacity of 90 m3/day which is consisting of membrane processes (i.e ultrafiltration (UF), nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO)) has been established. In this study, the quality of water to be obtained for different reuse alternatives was evaluated by treating the effluent of Konya advanced biological treatment plant first with Purple Network System and then with the membrane processes. Also, in the scope of this study, COD, BOD5, turbidity, conductivity, residual chlorine, fecal coliform removal efficiencies were observed by using the Purple Network System and the pilot scale membrane processes plant. According to the results obtained, reuse alternatives of treated wastewater were evaluated for the city of Konya.
