Abstract (EN)
In recent years, the use of industrial wastes in soil improvement has gained great importance in many industrialized and developing countries. The ability of these materials to replace traditional reinforcement additives is being investigated. For this purpose, the use of industrial wastes, prevention of environmental pollution caused by wastes, as well as the use of industrial wastes for soil improvement, contributes to the country's economy. The additive material increases the compressive strength and durability of the soil, decreases the swelling potential and maintains the stability of the soil in the freeze-thaw cycle. As a result of sugar production from sugar beet, a large amount of PKF press filter waste lime sludge is released, creating a serious problem for the environment. Since it is a non-hazardous waste, there will be no need for a large-scale area for storage with the use of this waste, which has no chemical damage to nature in terms of recycling and transportation, in soil improvement works and stabilization of road infrastructures. In this study, Konya II. Stabilization of two types of clay soils with low and high plasticity in the Organized Industrial Zone with press filter waste lime sludge (PKF) was investigated. Additives in different ratios to the samples in order to improve high and low plasticity clays; PKF (%5, %10, %15, %20), cement (%5, %10) and lime (%5, %10) were added for comparison. To all mixtures; Curing times of 0, 7, 15 and 28 days were applied. The bearing capacity, shear strength, settlement and permeability values of the samples prepared at optimum water content were investigated, respectively. The effects of PKF additive on clayey soils were analyzed and optimum additive ratios of PKF waste were determined. In the study, it was determined that PKF added to high and low plasticity clay soils in certain proportions increases the pressure and shear strength of the soils and reduces settlement. PKF can be used as a stabilization (improvement) agent on various soils, especially clayey soils.
