Abstract (EN)
In this study, the effect of the Newcastle disease virus LaSota strain, which belongs to the same virus family as the canine distemper virus (CDV), was investigated as an immunomodulator on canine distemper virus disease. The animal material of the study consisted of a total of 14 dogs (7 in the control group and 7 in the experimental group) that tested positive for CDV using a rapid test kit (VetExpert brand CDV Ag), regardless of age, weight, or sex. The clinical symptoms of all animals included in the study were recorded, and hematological analyses were performed on blood samples collected on day 0. A standardized treatment regimen (Amoxicillin clavulanate [Augmentin] at a dose of 20 mg/kg orally every 12 hours for 10 days, Vitamin D [Vetux Pharma D3 Nano] at 250 IU/kg orally for 1 week, and fluid therapy with 0.9% Sodium Chloride and Lactated Ringer's solution administered intravenously) was applied to both groups. In the experimental group, in addition to the standard treatment, the Hipra S vaccine (1000-dose vial), diluted with 6 mL of 0.9% isotonic Sodium Chloride, was administered subcutaneously once daily for 5 days, regardless of weight, age, or sex. The Newcastle disease virus LaSota strain was not administered to the animals in the control group. One month after these treatments, blood samples were again collected from the surviving animals for hematological analyses. In addition, the disease was re-evaluated using a rapid test kit (VetExpert brand). Key Words: Distemper, Dog, LaSota, Newcastle, Vaccine
