Studying the effects of xylazine-ketamine anesthesia on dogs? renal and portal vein blood stream with doppler ultrasonography

The purpose of this study is to search the effects of xylazine-ketamine anesthesia on dogs? vena porta, vena renalis and arteria renalis blood stream speed with the Doppler-ultrasound.In this study from different pedigrees and ages 6 male dogs were used which were clinically healthy and brought to Afyon Kocatepe University Veterinary Health Application and Research Center for castration.Before the study dogs were not given any food for 12 hours in order to apply anesthesia and Doppler-ultrasound. The Doppler application made before the anesthesia is considered as 0th minute measurement, which is ?control measurement.? Then xylazine-ketamine anesthesia was applied to the dogs. After the dogs were in anesthesia the measurements, which were taken with Doppler in the 5th, 30th and 60th minutes of anesthesia, were recorded. At the times of measurements dogs? pulse, breathing, SO2 and body temperature values were also taken.After the measurements it is detected that xylazine-ketamine anesthesia caused a decline in portal vein?s blood stream, an increase in renal vein?s blood stream, and an insignificant decline in renal artery.
