Prevalence of orthopedic diseases in dogs

This study aimed to summarize, evaluate, and act on the prevalence of orthopedic impairments according to the past years of the patients belonging to the clinic with orthopedic complaints. Also in the light of the obtained data on racial predisposition, gender discrimination, age criteria, such as comparing the differences seen in the anatomical regions where the disease is also aimed at helping other studies. In this study, a total of 6 small and medium sized pet clinics operating in Buca, İzmir's largest province, choice by using the data base of three medium sized pet clinics with orthopedic patient excessive and regular record keeping. Between 2014 and 2017, 312 (3%) cases of orthopedic disorder were detected in a total of 11,800 patients who were referred to clinics. The most frequent manifestations of orthopedic disorders were dysplasia (n=170) followed by fractures (n=110), dislocation (n=20) and pathologic disorders (n=12). In the study, 46% of the orthopedic disorders were observed in males and 54% were observed in female animals. Most developmental disorders of the sorts occurrence of orthopedic disorders (54%) is in the forefront, followed by traffic accidents (16%), falls from height (7%), crushing (7%), blunt trauma (4%), pathological disorders (4%), jamming (3%), unknown (3%), firearms (2%) and fighting (2%). The number of dysplasia cases was remarkably high in the region. It is seen that the number of female patients in races with the highest number of orthopedic diseases is higher than that of males. It has been observed that as the incidence of orthopedic diseases decreases on the basis of race, it is directly proportional to the increase in the proportion of males. When the obtained data are analyzed according to the months and seasons of the year, it is seen that the curves formed by your months showed partial compatibility within each year, and according to the seasons, the clinical applications are always increasing in the spring.
