The life of Koral Çalgan and the contribution of Turkey to the universal music life

This study aims to manifest Koral Çalgan?s contribution toTurkey?s music life as an educator, a soloist, a conductor,a writer and a director besides giving information about his family, his childhood, the art ambiance he was grown up, his education progress based on his own statements.As it introduces Koral Çalgan?s contribution to Turkey?s universal music life, this study is a sample case scan model. In this study, qualitative research data collecting technique including ?interview?, ?semi structured interview? and ?documentary scanning? were used. The results were analysed by descriptive statistics, one of qualitative data collecting techniques.The results of this study:As viola soloist he presented some viola compositions of Turkish and foreign composers for the first time in in our country and all over the world.He provided viola to be a solo instrument in our country?s concert hall by his concerts and viola recitals, was the first sample of Turkish viola soloist to be performed. He took place in the various chamber orchestra and symphony orchestras by contributing to contemprary Turkish music and viola education in both national and international concert performances.As a viola educator, he continued post graduate studies with his hundreds of student who had been educated before and provided the development of music education and art of music by founding conservatory.As being a music composer he contributed to music composing and the viola repertoire by having written four books, 76 music compositions and 15 articles published in various kinds of magazines.Besides founding and conducting the orchestra of both students and academicians of the conservatory that he worked, he also contributed to music art as a conductor by conducting the professional symphonies that he had been invited.During the period he worked as a director in Ministry of Culture, he provided the art education to spread by his studies on opening of the new art schools ın our country.By his studies aiming the productivity of many kinds of art branches, he provided the new works on different types of art. He also contributed to the development of the music art in our country by being a director in the conservatories he worked.
