The examination of books of Koray Avcı Çakman in terms of the main principles of children's literature

In this research, Koray Avcı Çakman's books that appeal to the middle school period (10-13 years old) among more than 150 published books were examined in terms of the basic principles of children's literature. 28 selected Works of Koray Avcı Çakman were analyzed through document analysis. These Works are; size, paper, cover, page layout, Picture (extemal structure features) and subject, theme, characters, language and expression, message (intermal structure features). As a result of the research, it has besen determined that the examined Works of the author are generally suitable for the extemal structure and intermal structure characterictics of children's literature. In a addition, it has been determined that the works have fatures that will give children the habit of reading. These features are; language and expression characteritics are suitable for the child, the selected topics appeal to the child's interests, needs and needs, the element of curiosity and conflicts are frequently used in the structuring of the subject, the protagonists have the age and characteristics that children can identify with. The analyzed works also stand out with their wealth in terms of vocabulary items. Especially in the works, idioms and reduplications are common. Besides; It has also been determined that the messages of the works are messages that can create sensitivity towards universal values in children. Considering all the features of the works discussed, it has been determined that they can be used in Turkish teaching. As a result of the research, suggestions were made to researchers and educators regarding the works examined.
