Abstract (EN)

KEYWORDS: Similar, Opperessive, Epic, Review, Following In this study, common aspects of two epic stories, i.e., "Köroglu" of 16th century and "Kacak Nebi" of 1 9th century, have been reviewed. The tittle of this thesis is "The Review of the Common Aspects of the Epic Stories of KÖROGLU and KAÇAK NEBİ". Even though these two epic stories took place at different centuries in different geographical places of currently two different countries, the emphasized theme is basically very similar. Koroglu initiates a struggle against a cruel person of power who blinded his father and spread the fight also to the other oppressors of his time who have been torturing the people everywhere. One of the things the hero(s) of this epic story does is that they take the excessive wealth from wealthy and distribute it to the needy. This epic story is very famous in Turkey. Kacak Nebi is another epic story that took place 3 centuries later in Azerbaijan. There are two important figures in this epic story; Kacak Nebi and his wife Hacer. Very similar to Koroglu, Kacak Nebi also fights against the mean wealthy in the side of the poor. At his time the wealthy people who hold the power used to tax people very heavily. Kacak Nebi and his wife Hacer start a struggle against the oppressive authority representing the Russian government. The following aspects are considered in this analysis for the similarities between the two epic stories: the language, style, and the characteristics of the figures of the stories; the time and the places they took place in with the characteristic conditions. The ways and means that were used in gathering these epic stories are also studied. One of the major conclusions in this work is that there are very strong commonalities between the cultures of people with Turkish origin inhabiting in various geographical regions. The strong links between their cultures in this respect is another way of verification of being the parts of a greater nation in a historical sense. The attempt of this study was to establish the similar aspects of the common culture between the two people of the different countries in our age by focusing the similarities of the two examples mentioned above.
