A narrative review in caricatures about the corona virus pandemic

Human history has been exposed to many epidemics since ancient times. The process of combating these epidemics varies according to the possibilities of the current era or period. The most recent epidemic disease in the world is Covid-19. This disease has affected the whole world since 2019 and its effects are still ongoing today. Today, with the acceleration of the globalized world, the disease has spread rapidly to all countries. The whole world has come to a common ground and started to fight against this disease, which has been declared a pandemic. The disease has not only affected the global agenda such as health, economy and education but has also changed the local agenda. Cultural elements such as lifestyle, changing social order, social rules and norms, traditions and customs started to change after the Covid-19 pandemic. Every change in society has been the subject of all verbal, written and visual products created in that society. Of course, the Covid-19 pandemic has not stopped being the subject of these products. This pandemic, which concerns and affects everyone, has found its own subject area in caricatures that provide thinking while making people laugh by using comic and humor elements together. Caricatures are narrative texts that directly or indirectly describe the message they want to convey. Thus, the places that are desired to draw attention about the coronavirus can be handled in a concise and effective way through caricature. In this master's thesis, caricatures related to the coronavirus were brought together and these caricatures were analyzed from a narrative point of view. At the end of the study, an evaluation was made about the cartoons on the subject, and as a result of this evaluation, it was determined that a global pandemic affected and changed the narrative world of the society.
