Abstract (EN)
PURPOSE: The effect of the deep breathing exercise training with spirometry before coronary artery bypass greft is to examine on the ventilation after the operation.METHOD: The research is semi-experimental. The research has been made in heart and vasculer surgery clinic a private hospital in İzmir. Ethical approval has been taken from Dokuz Eylül Universty School of Nursing Ethics Committee, and oral and written permission have been obtained from patients and director of private hospital. The sample of research was be taken in respect of the method of purpose samplification, first 30 for the control group, then another 30 for the experimental group a total of 60 patients who have had a coronary artery bypass greft operation. The experimental group has been given training of deep breathing exercise with spirometry and coughing and forte he use of spirometry by the researcher and a training brochure on this subject before on operation in the first 24?48 hours. The data have been collected three phases, which is in the 24?48 hours before operation, the second day of the post-operation, and before discharge hospital during 24?48 hours with Patient Description and ?Patient Observation Forms. This data includes measurements of the pulmoner function tests by mobile Spirometery and incentive spirometry volumes during the deep breathing exercise. The characteristics of patient have been collected them face-to-face interviews and measurements to each other synchronous in 30 minutes of during 08?17 hours, and considering of periods treatment and rest of patients. The data have been examined by using descriptive statistics, independed samples t-test and repeated measures analysis of variances in the computer.RESULTS: In the study, It was faund that deep breathing exercise made by spirometery and couging has been succesful effective the mesurements of FVC (%), FEV1 (%), FEF25?75 (%), PEF(%), and volume (mL) of incentive spirometry on the ventilation. Howewer it is not effective in the FEV1/FVC(%) ratio.CONCLUSION AND IMLICATION IN PRACTICE: The patients have indicated to adaptation the deep breathing exercise by spirometery and couing training. In conclision, the ventilation capasitesi of patients who is training is found to similar as after postoperative to discharge measurements as preopetive those. It is recommended that patients who underwent CABG before operation must be given to training deep breating exercise with incentive spirometry and couging.KEY WORDS: Coronary artery bypass graft, CABG.
