Investigation of healthy lifestyle behaviors in individuals with coronary artery bypass graft surgery

This study is a descriptive and cross-sectional study to determine the healthy lifestyle behaviors of patients who underwent coronary artery bypass surgery. The study was conducted in the Cardiology outpatient clinics and wards of Adana City Training and Research Hospital between December 2022 and June 2023. The study was conducted with 127 individuals who provided written and verbal informed consent. The study was conducted in patients who had undergone coronary artery bypass surgery at least three months ago, were over 18 years of age, had no mental illness and communication problems, and volunteered to participate in the study. "Patient Identification Form" and 'Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors Scale II' were used for data collection. It was found that 72.4% of the participants were male, 95.3% were married, 44.1% were in the 70-75 age group, 50.3% were primary school graduates, and 41.7% had quit smoking. It was observed that the total SYBD score of the patients was 117.78, the highest score was from interpersonal relationships and spiritual development, and the lowest score was from physical activity.It was found that patients in the 65-69 age group had higher nutrition scores and stress management, men had higher physical activity scores and spiritual development scores than women, single patients had higher health responsibility scores, interpersonal relationships scores increased with increasing educational level, patients with higher income levels had higher physical activity scores, spiritual development scores and total scores of the HPLP-II, and patients who smoked had lower interpersonal relationships, spiritual development and total scores of the HPLP-II.
