Özet (EN)

Introduction and Aim: The microbial ecosystem in the human body and the products produced by this ecosystem are called microbiota. The gut microbiota is one of the largest families identified in the entire ecosystem. It has an average of 1014 individuals. Advances in genome sequencing technology have provided the perfect basis for investigating the microbiota. Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is defined as the enlargement of a portion of the coronary artery angiographically 1.5 times greater than the adjacent normal coronary artery diameter without an obstructing lesion. With the increase in the frequency of diagnostic coronary angiography, it has become one of the diseases that cardiologists encounter frequently in daily practice. Although the relationship between CAE and dyslipidemia has not been fully demonstrated, researchers have conducted studies on this relationship. As a result of our search in the literature, no previous study was found between intestinal microbiota and CAE. For this reason, we aimed to conduct this study, which aims to investigate the relationship between CAE and serum lipid profile and intestinal microbiota. Method: After the ethics committee approval, interventional coronary angiography was performed in our center within 1 year retrospectively as a result of various tests with the suspicion of coronary artery disease and patients with a diagnosis of coronary artery ectasia and a normal coronary artery were included in the study. Following the informed consent, stool samples were taken in sterile containers and stored in a cold cabinet at -80 degrees Celsius. Plasma lipid profile, which was hospitalized in our clinic in the past 1 year and routinely checked during hospitalization, was also recorded simultaneously. After reaching the targeted patient population, samples were studied. Results: In our study, when the CAE group and the group with normal coronary arteries were compared , statistically significant difference was found in terms of age (p 0,02), magnesium levels (0,027), LDL in patients not receiving statin therapy (p 0,008) and total cholesterol levels (p 0,011), gender (p 0,02), cigarette (p 0,048). In addition, it was determined that there was a decrease in the rate of "Firmicutes"/"Bacteroidetes" in the CAE group. Conclusion: A decrease in the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio in intestinal microbiota and a decrease in LDL and total cholesterol levels may be associated with CAE.
