Abstract (EN)
Coronary artery disease (CAD), often begins early in life coronary arterial vasculature with fatty streaks later in the process decreased coronary blood flow and myocardial ischemia caused by a pathological process of atherosclerosis. CAD, the first cause of deaths in adults in developed countries. According to research, CAD is also first cause of deaths in adults in our country. Correction of CAD risk factors, cardiovascular mortality is considered to be downloaded by half. Although it is not a new subject to investigate risk factors for CAD, and still keep their focus of attention continues to be up to date.Epicardial adipose tissue, lies between the pericardium and myocardium. In the studies, the secretion of cytokines and hormones by epicardial adipose tissue have been reported to play role in the development of CAD. Due to the closer relationship coronary arteries, the aim of the our study was to evaluate the relationship between pericoronary epicardial adipose tissue thickness (EAT) and CAD.A total of 150 patients (77 male, 73 female) had been studied. Left anterior decending artery (LAD), right coronary artery (RCA) and left circumflex artery (LCX) pericoronary EAT were measured with multidetector computed tomography (MDCT). Pericoronary EAT was significantly correlated with CAD. Pericoronary EAT was also significantly correlated with body mass index (BMI), total cholesterol level, coronary artery calcium.Today, CAD risc factors are being used to predict and to detect CAD and its course. With the support of the larger series of studies similar to the Agatston?s calcium scoring, pericoronary EAT will have been easily used for CAD risc. Keywords: Coronary artery disease (CAD), epicardial adipose tissue, multidetector computed tomography (MDCT)
