Özet (EN)
ObjectiveBeta blockers has a decreasing effect on heart rate, systolic pressure and ventricular contractility through ß nerve blockage. On the other hand beta blockers also has stabilisating and volume decreasing effect on atherosclerotic plaques. The aim of this study is to retrospectively compare the complication rates and mortality differences between two group of CABG surgery patients with and without a history of beta blocker usage, in postoperative 1st month and 1st year.Material and MethodStudy parameters were obtained from patient files who has gone through CABG surgery in the department of cardiovascular surgery. The patients were divided in to two groups according to their beta blocker usage: patients who were on beta blocker were included in the beta blocker group (Group B), the patients who were not using beta blocker were included in to the control group (Group K). The patients were compared according to age, sex, euroscore, ejection fraction, proponent diseases, intraoperative fluid injection, intraoperative inotropic drug use, cross clemp time, time of surgery, postoperative inotropic drug use, mortality and morbidity in postoperative 1st month, mortality and morbidity in postoperative 1st year.ResultsCharacteristics of patients in both of the groups were similar (p>0.05). 1st month morbidity was similar in both the beta blocker and control group (% 2.7 and 2.1). 1st year mortality rate was % 2.6 in beta blocker group and % 8.5 in control group (p>0.05). In beta blocker group the major morbidity was atrial fibrilation (% 2). Agitation and delirium (% 2.5) and sternal wound infection (% 3.5) rates were lower in beta blocker group but the rates were not statisticaly significant. As a result we found out that preoperative beta blocker usage does not have an effect on postoperative 1st month and 1st year mortality and morbiditY.
