THE EFFECT OF VACUUM ASSISTED VENOUS DRAINAGE DURING CARDIOPULMONARY BYPASS ON HEMODULITION AND POSTOPERATIVE USE OF BLOOD PRODUCTS IN ADULT PATIENTS UNDERGOING CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS OPERATION Ömür Özmen , Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi , Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Perfüzon Teknikleri Ana Bilim Dalı İnciraltı – İzmir omurozmen@yahoo.com Abstract Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), being done during most of the cardiac operations, is replacement functions of both of heart and lungs by a heart-lung machine. Vacuum assisted venous drainage is to increase venous drainage by adding suction to venous reservoir. The purpose of the current study is to examine the effect of vacuum assisted venous drainage on hemodulition and use of blood products during CPB in adult patients undergoing coronary bypass operations. For this purpose, 104 patients (mean age 65.24 ± 7.82, 75 men) who underwent isolated coronary artery bypass operations with CPB in our clinic between April 2016 and May 2017 were included in the study. Vacuum assisted venous drainage was used in 52 patients (Group 1), whereas it was not used in other patients (Group 2). Hematocrit and haemoglobin levels, and use of erythrocyte, platelet and fresh frozen plasma were reviewed in all patients. The amount of volume (ml) added into prime solution in CPD circuit in Group 1 was statistically significantly lower than the amount of volume in Group 2 (p = 0.012). The results of the current study suggest that vacuum assisted venous drainage during isolated coronary bypass operations with CPB decreases intraoperative hemodilution and use of blood products. Key Words: Vacuum, cardiopulmoner bypass, open heart surgery, venous drainage , vacuum support venous drainage , minimal invaziv , hemodilution.
