Abstract (EN)
This study comprehensively examines the impact of piracy activities on the maritime economy. Maritime transport is a vital sector that constitutes a large part of global trade, and piracy poses a significant threat to operations within this sector. The study investigates the historical development, geographical distribution, and both direct and indirect effects of piracy on the maritime economy. Specifically, it focuses on the economic consequences of increased costs due to piracy, such as insurance premiums, security measures, and delays. Additionally, the changes in maritime trade routes caused by piracy and the measures taken by the international community to address this issue are also analyzed.
