Abstract (EN)
Theatre audiences read the arrangement of visual components in their subconscious as they look at the scene, the décor, the costume and the colours, and make the meaning of the created artwork with all its components. Theatre professionals and their deeds are like puzzle pieces. These parts often do not mean much on their own. Only when they are assembled in the right way, they can create a successful production. Theatres, which exist as synthesis of various branches of science and art, are an important social component of city culture. Theatre serves to expand and increase the responsivity and thinking practices of individuals, and a better understanding of the tools, theories, and strategies of theatre design is necessary to support and advance theatre culture. The objective of this study is to analyse the contributions costume designing, along with set and colour design make to the dramaturgy in Theatre Anadolu's staging of the play Forget Herostratus! by Grigory Gorin (Adapted by Haluk Bilginer and Muharrem Özcan and retitled Kundakçı meaning, "arsonist" in Turkish). The first part of the study contains a summary of the costume, set and colour designs. In the second part, the play is examined in terms of its own characteristics and the design components used in its staging. The characteristics of the play are put forward through Theatre Anadolu's interpretation. To this end, the different properties of the costumes designed for the play have been defined and studied. In the final part, the contribution the designs makes to the dramaturgy is interpreted according to the data gathered through interviews with specialists in the field.
