Abstract (EN)
Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR)/cas9 technology is an easily accessible, programmable and precision gene editing tool that has a great number of applications, especially in biomedical research. This genome editing system, is obtained from the immune system that naturally occuring in bacteria. However, it has recently been used for genome editing in eukaryotic cells as well. It can be use to increase efficiency in animals using the CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing method. With the help of editing some genes that affect meat, milk and fertility in sheep, it has become possible to increase productivity and usability in reclamation works. In this study, it is aimed to ''knock-out'' the MSTN gene, which affects meat yield by increasing muscle in sheep and other animals. In the study, sheep oocytes were used and gene CRISPR/Cas9 method was applied by microinjection. After the sequence analysis result, it has been observed that the MSTN gene can be knocked out. The adequacy of foods of animal origin is essential matter, especially in times of increasing population and experiencing constraints in the food sector. This study is important in terms of increasing meat yields, increasing the yield per unit sheep and closing the meat deficit without disturbing the genetic structure of domestic sheep breeds bred in Turkey
