Abstract (EN)

In this study, the root verbs of the ten contemporary dialects of the Kipchak group called the Northern branch of the General Turkish language have been examined via historical-comparative methods over the Old Turkish and Kipchak language heirlooms. The Introduction chapter of the thesis comprises of evaluation of information about the Kipchaks, the Kipchak language and contemporary Kipchak dialects. The Phonologic Information chapter of thesis study is based on the analysis of the Kipchak root verbs, obtained by surveying, from a phonological aspect. This section chapter deals with phonetic entities, phonetic changes and phonetic phenomena. The heading, Morphologic Information, addresses the root verb concept in terms of the contemporary Kipchak's vocabulary. In the Semantic Information section, the semantic features of root verbs are examined by employing the historical-comparative method. Thus, the thesis attempts to present the phonologic, morphologic and semantic characteristics of the root verbs of the contemporary Kipchak dialects that can be traced from the Old Turkish and the historical Kipchak sources as well as to exhibit the relations between the ten contemporary dialects belonging to the same group.
