Research on correlation between learning styles and exam anxiety of preservice teachers preparing for KPSS test

We encounter exams from very first stage of our education to preservice education at nearly every stage of our lives. One of the most significant of them is Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) for preservice teachers. The objective of this exam is to select those who will be appointed to public service fort he first time and this exam is applied to preselect those who will be appointed to positions in public in stitution swhich require in stitutional exam. Exam anxiety is related to the significance of an exam, how much a person attaches importance to it and his own personality traits. The aim of this study is to determine the learning styles of preservice teachers taking Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) and the correlation between exam anxietyand their learning styles. In this study 876 preservice teachers preparing for KPSS have been reached in the province of İstanbul. There are totally 49 questions in Learning Style Scale developed for preservice teachers. Corresponding each sub category, there are 12 questions related to visualle arning style, 14 questions related to auditory learning style, 11 questions related to tactile learning styleand 12 questions related to kinesthetic learning style. When learning style scale and the inventory of exam anxiety applied to preservice teachers are analyzed, it has been found in the study that males are more prone to visual and tactile learning style than females, that preservice teachers graduating from other departments except for art departments are also prone to visual and tactile teaching style, that approximately 77% of preservice teachers are female, that more than 82% of preservice teachers cannot receive any education concerning effective study, that exam anxiety in preservice teachers decreases 40 % when kinesthetic learning style increases.
