Abstract (EN)

In this study, the materials which are primarily used for abrasion resistant applications such as slurry pumps, ore classifiers, brick molds, impeller blades and liners for shot blasting equipment, refine disks in pulp refiners, impact hammers, roller segment and ring segment in coal grinding mills, feed and lifter bars and mill liners in ball mills for hard-rock mining, tillage tools, bucket teeth, scraper blades, screw conveyors and grain handling equipment, are investigated. In this project work, high chromium white cast iron, high chromium steel and high manganese steel materials which have three different cooling type after heat treatment were used. In the high-chromium white cast iron group, the four samples are available, which consist 2.84% and 3.16% C, respectively, while 25.8% Cr and 20.2% Cr. The cooling type after heat treatment varies, as in the air, in the oil and with fans. In the high chromium steels group, three samples are available, which consist 0.4% C and 1.53% C, respectively, while 7.38% Cr and 13.4% Cr. The cooling type after heat treatment varies, as in the oil and with fans. Finally, in manganese steels group, two samples are available, which consist 1.16% C and 1.34% C, respectively, while 0.37% Cr and 1.8% Cr and respectively again, 11.6% Mn and 17% Mn. The cooling type is the same for both two specimens, as water-cooling. The aim of this study is that to investigate structure, mechanical properties and wear behaviors of these materials which are used in crushers and grinders. In the experimental studies, for microstructural characterization, metallographic samples of each material were prepared and microscopic examinations with optical microscope have been performed on these samples. Additionally, XRD analysis was performed on the samples. Also various mechanical tests have been performed on these samples, such as hardness, abrasion, tensile and impact test. To determine the characteristic of fracture and mechanism, fracture surfaces of the impact test samples were examined by using SEM.
