Abstract (EN)

The aim of this doctoral study was to measure the effect of the use of creative writing methods in DaF courses (DaF) at universities in Turkey on the foreign language education of students in German and their German writing skills. A total of 301 students from the Faculty of Pharmacy and Dentistry of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University and the Department of German Language and Literature of the Faculty of Philology of Konya Selçuk University were examined. First, second, third and fourth year students participated in the study. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were used to collect the data. Creative writing activities were carried out by the lecturers of the seminars in German as a foreign language (DaF) of the above-mentioned faculties. Questionnaires were administered to the students before and after the creative writing practice. A measuring instrument was developed for this purpose. The data were analysed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 22 program. Apart from that, semi-structured question interviews were conducted with the teachers who conducted the creative writing activities in their classes. The results of the writing activities, the survey and the interview with educators showed that it had a positive effect on the students in learning German.
